General Questions
When did the program begin? The program began on July 1,
2003. It will end on July 1, 2008.
What company was awarded the contract?

How long will the program last? Five years (July 2, 2008).
What is a carry-out service? A carry-out service will be
available to residents regarded as disabled under the Americans
with Disabilities Act of 1990 whose dwelling unit does not have
residing therein another individual capable of transporting MSW
and recyclables to the designated location. Trash, recyclables
and bulk items will be picked up at the door.
What holidays will be observed? New Years Day, Memorial Day,
Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas
Day. COLLECTION WILL BE ONE DAY LATE WHEN YOUR COLLECTION DAY
FALLS ON OR FOLLOWS THESE HOLIDAYS.
What happens if collection is missed? Call Waste Management as
soon as possible.
What is the schedule?
Tuesday: Residences South of Meadow Lane.
Thursday: Residences on North and South Meadow Lane,
Jonestown Road between South
Meadow Lane and Jonestown Road.
Friday: Residences North of Jonestown Road.
Municipal Solid Waste (MSW)
What is Municipal Solid Waste (MSW)?
For purposes of this
contract, MSW shall include garbage (food waste), refuse (the
useless or worthless part of something), grass clippings and
leaf waste (any combination of leaves, brush, tree and shrub
trimmings and vegetative materials from gardens).
Will everyone have to participate in this program? No - however
no other waste hauler will be permitted to collect trash and
recyclables in the Township unless there is an exclusion from
participation. Non-residential buildings and multi-family
dwellings over four units are excluded from participation.
What are the two service programs? Participants will have two
service programs from which to choose.
1. The regular collection service will allow a maximum of four
containers a week. The fee will be $15.03 per month or $45.09
per quarter which amounts to an annual fee of $180.36. Billing
will be done on a quarterly basis (January, April, July,
October). Additional containers of
MSW will require tags to be
attached. Tags will be available at the Municipal Building at
the cost of $3.00 per tag.
2. The optional per container service or TAG-A-BAG allows
customers who generate small amount of MSW to purchase tags from
the waste hauler which must be attached to each container. Tags
for this service will be $3.00 each and are available at the
Municipal Building.
Is it possible to change services from the regular collection
service to the per container service or from the per container
service to the regular collection service at any time? From
July 1st through July 14th of each year, a customer may elect to
change services.
Is it possible to suspend services? In order to have service
suspended, a 2 week notification period is necessary. Service
may be suspended for not less than 30 days.
If the per container service is chosen, will recyclables still
be collected and marketed? Yes, the cost of the collection of
recyclables is included in both services.
What containers do we use? Customers will provide their own
containers of not more than 32 gallons. Containers must not
exceed 50 pounds.
When will collection occur? All collections will be made
between the hours of 5:00 A.M. and 5:00 P.M. In the event of a
missed service call, collection will be made within 24 hours of
notification.
Curbside Recycling (CR)
All containers must be empty, cleaned, and washed of contents.
What recyclables will be collected? The contract calls for the
collection of the following:
• glass bottles – clear, brown and green (bottles only, no
plate/window glass). Please do not break the glass before
placing it in the container.
• aluminum beverage cans
• bimetallic and steel cans
• plastic containers labeled #1, #2, #3, #4, #5, #6 and #7
(should be less than 2 gallons in size)
• newsprint including advertisements contained within the
newspaper (place in brown paper bag or tie with string)
• junk mail (brown grocery bag or tied with string)
• cereal boxes and similar boxes
• cardboard (broken down/flattened in 3 ft x 3 ft squares & tied
with string)
• magazines
• high grade office paper

What does NOT get recycled?
• window glass, Pyrex, porcelain, ceramics, lead crystal and
light bulbs
• aerosol cans
• aluminum foil, pie plates, aluminum siding, and other scrap
aluminum
• telephone books
• egg cartons
Do recyclables have to be separated? No, all recyclables can be
placed in one container.
What containers will be required for recyclables? Containers
will be provided by the Township. They will have a capacity of
20 gallons. The first container is provided by the Township
free of charge. Additional containers are available at the
Municipal Building during business hours for a charge of $6.00
per container and $3.00 per lid.
What is the weight limit on recycling? Recycling containers
placed for collection shall not weigh more than fifty (50)
pounds.
When will the collection of recyclables occur? The collection
of recyclables will occur once a week on the same day and at
approximately the same time as collection of MSW. All
collections shall be made between the hours of 5:00 A.M. to 5:00
P.M.
Bulk
Item Collection (BIC)
Any establishment which participates in the Regular Collection
Service will be able to use this program with no additional
charge. ONE bulk item will be collected each week. Acceptable
items include the following:
• furniture
• carpet
• mattresses and box springs
• similar items provided 2 persons can lift into the back of the
truck
• appliances will also be accepted. If the appliance contains
Freon, (air conditioners, refrigerators, freezers,
dehumidifiers, etc.), you must call Waste Management at
1-800-634-4595 to make arrangements for collection. All doors
from refrigerators and freezers must be removed prior to placing
at the curbside. Appliances containing Freon are collected on
Mondays. No additional fee will be charged.
Non-acceptable items include the following:
• any construction or demolition debris (building materials)
• tires, automobile parts and similar items
• bricks, block, concrete, blacktop, rocks or similar items
• dirt, tree trunks., stumps or roots
• commercial/industrial waste streams
• household hazardous waste, paints,
pesticides/herbicides/insecticides, solvents/chemicals, liquids
• petroleum products
• batteries
• loose piles.
• any item to heavy to be lifted by two men (riding lawn mowers,
pianos, etc.)
Other Services
Waste Management can provide comprehensive solid waste services
for all your needs. Though they are not included in the weekly
residential service, Waste Management can make special
arrangements to pick up oversized and/or bulky waste from your
residence. Also they can provide various sizes of construction
and demolition containers for all your residential and/or
commercial needs. These containers vary in size from 10 to 40
yards and are excellent for household clean up projects, roofing
jobs, special events, and all commercial/industrial
applications.
