SLOTS REVENUE INFORMATION (SB 862)

Even though the Senate denied East Hanover Township's request for additional slots funding (we still only get abut $500,000) we still won a partial victory through the efforts of our Township Supervisors and Representative Ron Marsico.  Thanks to their persistence, language was inserted in SB 862 providing for a five-member advisory committee concerning distribution of the remaining $9.5 million in slots revenue in Dauphin County.  East Hanover Township will have two representatives on that committee.  The committee's purpose is to advise the county as to the need for municipal grants for health, safety, transportation and other projects in the public interest throughout the county.  Hopefully, the committee will have enough influence to generate additional spending in East Hanover Township and surrounding municipalities affected the most by Penn National slots traffic, etc.

Language in SB 862 concerning the committee reads:

"Where the licensed facility is other than a Category 3 and is located in more than one second class township the county commissioners of the county of the third class in which the facility is located shall appoint an advisory committee for the purpose of advising the county as to the need for municipal grants for health, safety, transportation and other projects in the public interest to be comprised of two individuals from the host municipality, two from contiguous municipalities within the county of the third class and one from the host county."
