Notice is hereby given WHEREAS the EAST HANOVER TOWNSHIP BOARD OF SUPERVISORS will hold a public hearing for a conditional use pursuant to the Second Class Township Code, Act of May 1, 1933 (P.L. 103, No. 69) Reenacted and Amended November 9, 1995 (P.L. 350, No. 60) as Amended for SVSC, LLP on February 16, 2010, 7:30 PM at 8848 Jonestown Rd., Grantville, PA.  The conditional use is for a Shopping Center on Bow Creek Rd.

New Web Tool Allows Pennsylvanians to Check Status of Property Tax/Rent Rebates

Eligible older adults and residents with disabilities can now check the status of Property Tax/Rent Rebate applications online at www.papropertytaxrelief.com.

 

◊◊Penn Waste Rate Increase Announcement

The following is the disposal rate for the Harrisburg Incinerator:  The final rate increase for the incinerator is $1.58 per ton.  As a result of this, there will be an increase in the residents' quarterly bill by $0.55 per quarter.

◊◊New Waste & Recycling Collector - Penn Waste

Effective July 2, 2008, Waste Management will no longer be East Hanover Township’s waste/recycle hauler.  The contract was due to expire July 1st and the contract was put out to bid.  Penn Waste came in as the low bidder at $54.17 per quarter.  Residents on the Tag-A-Bag program will now pay $3.50 per bag.  If you have any yellow tags left, please return them to the Municipal Building for a refund.  You cannot use these tags for Penn Waste.  Pick-up days will remain the same and all services remain the same.  The toll free contact number for Penn Waste is 1-866-575-8720.  You should have received a brochure from Penn Waste, if not, please visit our Trash & Recycling page to view a copy.

Dauphin County Recycling Center

Saturday Hours Rescheduled

The Dauphin County Recycling Center (DCRC) will be closed on Sat., Feb. 6 due to inclement weather and will reopen from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Mon., Feb. 8. 

 

Residents are encouraged to safely dispose of thermostats containing mercury for free at the county’s recycling facility.  To kick off this new program, Dauphin County has partnered with Covanta Energy to offer $5 gift cards to the home improvement store Lowe’s to the first 500 households that recycle mercury thermostats beginning Mon., Feb. 8 through Sat., Mar. 6 at the center.

 

The DCRC has rescheduled its Saturday hours for Sat., Feb. 13.  Customers can drop off mercury thermostats and other recyclables from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on weekdays and one Saturday each month.

 

The recycling facility offers free electronics recycling to Dauphin County residents and accepts old and unwanted household appliances, such as refrigerators, air conditioners, stoves and washers, for a minimal fee.

LIGHT-HEIGEL DAYTIME OFFICE HOURS

NOW AT THE TOWNSHIP BUILDING

The Supervisors are pleased to announce Light-Heigel will be holding daytime Code Enforcement/Zoning office hours at the Township Building Monday through Friday from 8am to 4pm.  The daytime office telephone number is (717) 469-7715. 

At this time, the Board of Supervisors anticipates maintaining their Tuesday evening hours from 5pm to 7pm.  Sewage Enforcement and UCC will still be through their Palmyra Office at (717) 838-1351.
